BMW’s new prestige 1 Series hatchback is now available to order. This is BMW’s third-generation (1 Series) and by the look of things it’s set to go head to head with the new Mercedes A-Class.
The 1 Series is fractionally shorter, wider and taller with a shorter bonnet. It’s been reported the car comes in 3 different forms, SE, Sport and M- Sport and a standard alone model known as M135i. The engines are limited at launch to 2 petrol and 3 diesel types. Whatever engine you opt for you can either have it in a six-speed manual gearbox, a seven-speed dual clutch automatic or an eight-speed conventional auto.
Standard safety equipment features automatic emergency breaking and lane departure warning across range.
Other optional equipment includes a panoramic roof, powered tailgate, stop and go function, self parking function and the ability to use your smartphone as the key.
